I read the other day that only 2% of sales are made on the first contact with a client which means that 98% of business is still left on the table waiting to be won at that stage! Incredibly 49% of businesses were said to never follow up with only 25% completing a single follow up action. In today’s business world where in addition to the traditional sales and marketing tools buyers can be reached via an array of social media tools which all play a part, it was said that 80% of sales were made after between 5 and 12 contacts or “touches” with a prospective client. If those figures are even half accurate the messages is clear- follow up and transform your new business pipeline. It’s a quick low cost strategy with massive upside potential for little or no extra time or resource commitment.
